John is a member of Richards Barry Joyce & Partners’ Suburban leasing group and is one of the leading experts in Greater Boston’s metro west region. In his 16 years of advising tenants and landlords on their commercial real estate strategies, John has leased and sold in excess of 16 million square feet of office, R&D, and industrial space.
Prior to founding Richards Barry Joyce & Partners, John was a senior director at Cushman and Wakefield, Inc. His clients range from start-ups to large public companies. John has successfully negotiated many large leases, including three build-to-suit transactions totaling 575,000 square feet on behalf of Capital One Corporation, Best Buy and Dunkin’ Donuts Northeast Distribution Center, Inc. In 2006, he represented TA Associates Realty in a 160,000 square foot lease with Tyco Healthcare that was named the “Suburban Office Deal of the Year” by the Commercial Brokers Association. In addition in 2007-2009, John negotiated three of the I-495 market’s largest industrial leases – 342,900 square feet for FedEx at One Beeman Road (Northborough); 240,000 square feet for Best Buy at 150 Depot Street (Bellingham); and 227,000 square feet for Owens & Minor at 135 Constitution Boulevard (Franklin).
Additional honors John has received include being named one of Commercial Property News’ national “Hot Brokers” in 2005; being named a CoStar Top Power Broker (2003-2007); and receiving Cushman & Wakefield's “New England Deal of the Year” award (1998 and 2000) and the “Top 100 National Ranking” in 2000.
John graduated from Babson College with a Bachelor of Science in 1993. He is a member of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board.
